Metropolis Appoints Vanessa Lai as Head of Media, Melbourne

Metropolis has taken a major step in its national growth strategy with the appointment of Vanessa Lai as Head of Media in Melbourne.

A respected property marketing leader, Lai brings decades of experience, strong client relationships and a high-performing team to the agency’s expanding media and performance division.

Her arrival sees Metropolis’ Melbourne media offering bolstered significantly, integrating with the agency’s 25-strong national media and performance team. The appointment reinforces Metropolis’ commitment to delivering data-driven, measurable outcomes for property clients in an increasingly complex media landscape.

Lai will work alongside Claire Harrison and Adam Monks, who have been instrumental in growing the agency’s media capabilities. In addition to her team’s integration, Metropolis will continue its partnership with Neue Media to align earned and paid media strategies for greater campaign effectiveness.

“I’ve known James Cooper and Mei-ling Billing for a long time and have always had great respect for the team, culture and client list that they’ve built,” Lai said. “Joining Metropolis gives my clients access to a national media team, proprietary software, and greater visibility and control over campaign performance. I’m excited to join the team and contribute to its continued success in Melbourne.”

Mei-ling Billing, Managing Director at Metropolis, said Lai’s appointment is a clear endorsement of the agency’s momentum.

“Having someone of Ness' calibre and experience join our team reflects the strength of the platform, culture and performance built by Claire and Adam. Our media and performance offering continues to go from strength to strength, and this appointment supports our national expansion. We’re thrilled to welcome Ness and look forward to sharing more announcements soon.”

The move signals continued growth and consolidation within the property marketing space, with data-led performance media emerging as a critical capability for developers navigating a competitive buyer market.
